American Car Buyers are keeping vehicles for longer periods of time

The current average age is up from 8 to 12 years according to a recent survey and some are keeping them for nearly 15 - 20 years.   Within a years period of time from 2008-09, approx. 1 billion fewer vehicles were sold over that period of time as a direct result of the economy.
